‘Violent offender’ wanted for rape turns himself in to police

PITTSBURGH — A man Pittsburgh police were searching for on rape and other sexual offenses has turned himself in to police.

Michael Cooper, 48, was being called a “violent offender” and is considered dangerous.

Cooper is 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighs 225 pounds and has brown eyes. He is from the Knoxville/Mt. Oliver area.

Cooper has prior convictions, including first-degree murder and numerous assaults and burglaries.

He’s charged with rape, sexual assault, recklessly endangering another person, indecent assault, and indecent exposure.
