Pittsburgh road torn up for nearly month has neighbors frustrated

PITTSBURGH — A road in Pittsburgh’s Spring Hill neighborhood was torn up and neighbors say it’s been left that way for almost a month.

No parking signs were posted by the city in the area of Rostock and Radner streets on Aug. 25 so work could be done.

Crews came out to mill Radner Street, but they never returned to pave it. About a dozen manholes are left exposed, and rock and gravel are all around.

Neighbors say it’s a danger to anyone walking and they fear it could damage their vehicles.

“One of the older folks that lives on this hill was out here with a shovel trying to shovel the rocks off the street,” Brad Miller, who lives in the area, said. “It just hasn’t been good for anybody.”

A spokesperson for the city offered the following explanation in a statement:

“When the street was milled, a water main break was discovered. The city is working with PWSA to resolve the break, and when that is completed the street will be paved.”

A timeframe for repairs was not available.
