PITTSBURGH — Construction on the Parkway North has forced the postponement of the 2017 Pittsburgh Triathlon & Adventure Race.
The bike portion of the event, which was scheduled for Aug. 12-13, typically goes onto the Parkway North, but the HOV lanes are closed.

Organizers said the costs of shutting down city roads for the two-day event would be a “financial liability” for Friends of the Riverfront and P3R, the nonprofit organizations that put on the triathlon.
It is anticipated that the triathlon will return when HOV lane construction is complete.
Anyone who already registered for the triathlon will receive a full refund within 10 days, organizers said.
