Pittsburgh Zoo seasonal employee tests positive for coronavirus

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium announced Monday that a seasonal employee had tested positive for coronavirus.

According to the zoo, the employee was asymptomatic but got tested after a relative tested positive for the virus.

The employee has not been at the zoo since June 23. Other employees who came into contact with that person have been quarantined, the zoo said in a release.

The zoo said it has enacted a safety and cleaning protocol to protect employees and visitors.

All employees are required to follow CDC guidelines, including wearing a mask on grounds, regularly and vigorously wash their hands, and refrain from reporting to work with any symptoms of an illness.
