PITTSBURGH — Three men were shot Tuesday night during an apparent shootout just down the street from Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh’s North Side, police said.
Police swarmed East Ohio Street shortly before 9:30 p.m. and found one of the shooting victims there. The other two victims were found near the intersection of James and Suismon streets.
Neighbors reported hearing at least 20 gunshots. Evidence markers lined a sidewalk while police investigated.
A gun was spotted inside a pizza box that was lying in the street.
One of the men who was shot was seen being put in an ambulance after he was taken out of the Isaly’s on East Ohio Street. Police said he ran there.
All three men were hospitalized. Two of them were listed in critical condition, and one was in stable condition.
Investigators said the shooting does not appear to have been a random act of violence.
Neighbors said they saw someone running down Suismon Street after the shooting. Police will be reviewing surveillance video from the area.
No arrests have been made.
People who live in the community said the violence is disheartening and they’re doing everything they can to rebuild.
“It just brings a lot of grief and sadness to me. This is a beautiful community with a lot of amazing people,” Pastor Ken Turnbull, assistant pastor at Allegheny Central Alliance Church, said. “It doesn’t represent the community.”
