Police officer fired for using unnecessary force during arrest

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The New Castle Police Department fired an officer after they say he used an unnecessary amount of force during a recent arrest.

A video of the arrest has been viewed more than 20,000 times on Facebook.

Officer Ron Williams has been fired for his actions during the arrest of Perry Lawry last month.

When another officer entered a home after being called for a domestic incident, Lawry allegedly began to struggle with him, according to a criminal complaint. Williams, a 10-year veteran, heard the struggle and entered the home.

The video shows Williams slamming Lawry's head into the floor several times after a Taser didn't work and Lawry allegedly kept moving toward a kitchen counter with knives on it.
