• Port Authority restores full service to Blue Line Library

    BETHEL PARK - UPDATE Saturday 2:33 p.m. - The Blue Line Library will reopen at the start of service on Sunday.

    The Library and West Library park and ride lots will also reopen Sunday.


    The Port Authority of Allegheny County has announced its light-rail Blue Line Library route, which was heavily damaged by a storm earlier this summer, will reopen this weekend.  

    Port Authority crews made final repairs on Friday, with plans to operate a test run on Saturday.

    Officials said if all goes well, the Blue Line Library will reopen on Sunday.

    Port Authority officials closed the line and the park-and-ride lots on June 20, after severe flooding devastated a four-mile stretch of the light rail track that runs through the South Hills.

    Crews were able to restore service to the Blue Line South Hills Village and a section of the Blue Line Library which is currently in service from the Lytle station to downtown and the North Shore. 

    Shuttle buses have also been serving the Blue Line Library stations.

    The Blue Line was initially scheduled to reopen on Sept. 1, but had a couple of setbacks.
