Precautionary boil water advisory lifted for parts of New Castle area

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A precautionary boil-water advisory has been lifted for parts of the New Castle area.

The areas affected included parts of the City of New Castle, Union Township, Shenango Township, Hickory Township, Neshannock Township and Mahoning Township.

The Pennsylvania American Water Company reported it experienced a loss of water pressure on Sunday at water storage tanks in Union Township and Neshannock Township following a water main break.

The water company stated people should not drink the water without boiling it first. It advised to “bring all water to a rolling boil, let it boil for one minute, and cool before using; or use bottled water. You should use boil or bottled water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and food preparation until further notice.”

PAWC stated it is working to repair the break and will be collecting and analyzing water samples when the repair is complete.

The advisory was lifted on Thursday.
