Report about Polar Vortex and stink bugs outdated

A recent report about the Polar Votex killing stink bugs is a little outdated.

Earlier this week, a post on the National Pest Management Association website indicated that the Polar Vortex may have killed 95 percent of stink bugs that hadn't found a place to keep warm.

We all got a little excited, thinking the Polar Vortex in January may have wiped out some of the annoying bugs. Turns out, that may not be true.

The post cited an observational study by Virginia Tech University that was published in the Washington Post in 2014, not following the recent 2019 Polar Vortex.

The study said that the rate of stink bug death only applies to bugs that were unprotected from the elements, not those already hiding in an attic or shed.
