Tractor-trailer overturns, spills beams onto Route 65 in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH — Route 65 southbound was closed after a tractor-trailer hauling I-beams overturned early Monday morning in Pittsburgh.

The crash happened just after 2 a.m. in the city’s Chateau neighborhood, approaching the North Shore.

A hazmat team was called because diesel fuel leaked from the truck, which rolled onto its passenger side, officials said.

The driver was able to get out of the truck’s cab and was not hurt, according to police.

Crews removed the truck from Route 65 before clearing the beams from the roadway.

Route 65 southbound reopened about 8 a.m.
