Second person charged with homicide in Pittsburgh man’s death

PITTSBURGH — A second arrest was made in connection with a man’s beating and death in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood.

Police said Roger Brown, 63, was found bleeding in broad daylight on a sidewalk on Frankstown Road around 5 p.m. Friday. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he died on Sunday.

Marlon Johnson, 31, was detained by police later Friday night in Homewood as he fit the description of the attacker. He was taken to headquarters for questioning and then later arrested. Police said his charges were upgraded to homicide after Brown died.

The details of what led to Brown’s injuries and eventual death are still unclear.

On Wednesday, police made another arrest following the incident. Madera Johnson, 37, is being charged with criminal homicide, simple assault and aggravated assault.

Both suspects are being held inside the Allegheny County Jail, and the investigation is ongoing.
