Six new COVID-19 deaths reported between Dec. 23 and 24 in Allegheny County

The Allegheny County Health Department said that six new COVID-19 related deaths were reported between Wednesday and Thursday.

Two people were in their 70s, three were in their 80s and one person was in their 90s. Three deaths were associated with long-term care facilities, according to the press release sent out Saturday.

In the last 48 hours, 1,209 new COVID-19 cases were reported to the Health Department. Of those, 1,152 are confirmed cases from 3,973 new PCR tests. There are 57 probable cases. New cases range in age from 1 week to 98 years with a median age of 48 years. The dates of positive tests ranged from Nov. 18 to Dec. 25. Forty-eight positive tests are more than a week old.

Since March 14, there have been 50,859 cases of COVID-19 in Allegheny County residents, 3,076 hospitalizations and 853 deaths.
