Students evacuated because of odor at Quaker Valley Middle School

SEWICKLEY, Pa. — Students and staff were evacuated Tuesday morning at Quaker Valley Middle School because of an odor, according to a post on the school district’s Facebook page.

The incident was reported shortly before 9:30 a.m. at the school in Sewickley.

After staff reported the odor, the fire department and gas company were notified to investigate, the Facebook post said.

Students and staff were evacuated to St. Andrew’s Church as a precaution, and everyone was safe and accounted for, the post said.

Parents were asked to not go to pick up their children.

Students and staff were able to return to the school by 10:30 a.m. once the fire department and gas company cleared the building, according to a text sent to parents.
