Suspect in shooting death of teenager headed to trial

PITTSBURGH — The man accused of shooting and killing a teen in Kennedy Township earlier this summer during a front yard fight will head to trial.

Israel Moon, 21, faced a judge for a preliminary hearing Friday morning.

Moon is charged in the shooting death of 18-year-old Jassim Al-Maleky.

Investigators say Moon pulled out a gun during a fight and shot it into a group of people standing nearby.  Al-Maleky was hit and died shortly after.

According to police paperwork, Moon left the scene of the fight right after the shot was fired.

Multiple witnesses cooperated with the investigation and reported seeing Moon with the weapon.

Channel 11 was there when Moon surrendered himself to police several weeks back.

Moon is facing criminal homicide and possessing a weapon without a permit charges. He’s currently in the Allegheny County Jail.
