PITTSBURGH — An SUV burst into flames when it crashed into a pole early Thursday morning in Pittsburgh’s Brookline neighborhood.

The driver took off after the crash, which happened just before 2 a.m. on Route 51/Saw Mill Run Boulevard, police said. Officers began a search, but the driver has not been found.

Investigators said the flames erupted from the SUV’s engine.
