Teen facing charges in fatal shooting of 15-year-old boy

A teenage boy is facing charges for the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy in Duquesne.

Lezra Rice, 15, was shot and killed Oct. 11 in an alley during what police are now saying was a drug deal gone wrong.

Police said Rice was attempting to purchase marijuana when Thomas McKissick, 16, shot him several times in an alley in the 400 block of William Street.

According to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office, Rice died from a gunshot wound to the head on his way to UPMC McKeesport hospital.

Police found a conversation between McKissick and Rice on Facebook Messenger earlier that day, which described the details of their eventual meeting on Oct. 11, according to the criminal complaint.

When searching McKissick’s home, police found a box of .45 caliber ammunition. They discovered that the ammunition matched the cases collected from the scene of the shooting.

Police said McKissick is facing charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a minor.
