• Temperatures plummet for weekend

    The Winter Weather Advisory has expired, but bands of snow continued to move in and temperatures plummeted on Friday.

    ACTIVE SEVERE WEATHER ALERTS: Latest advisories, watches and warnings

    Wind picked up through the day, dropping wind chills into the teens and single-digits.  It will be a cold weekend, with highs in the 20s Saturday and near 30 degrees Sunday.

    More snow is expected next week, with the possibility of a winter storm late Monday through Tuesday.

    By 4 a.m. Friday, a blanket of about 2 to 4 inches of snow covered much of the Channel 11 viewing area north of Interstate 70. Pittsburgh Public Works operated under a Snow Level 2 Alert and activated the snow plow tracker at midnight.
