Utility worker dies in fall from bucket truck

WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A man working on power lines was killed Sunday when the bucket truck he was in tipped over.

Lawrence County 911 said the incident was reported around noon in the 300 block of Dutch Ridge Road in Wayne Township.

James George, 54, of New Castle, was killed in the incident. Officials said George was in a bucket about 30 feet in the air when the truck became unstable and tipped over,

A spokesman for First Energy issued the following statement:

"The FirstEnergy family suffered a tragic loss today. A Penn Power lineman working in a bucket truck was killed when his truck overturned. The incident took place in Wayne Township in western Pennsylvania.

"Our thoughts are with his family, friends and co-workers.

"Our investigation into this incident has begun, and we will cooperate fully with all public officials in their investigations, as well."

On Sunday afternoon, a pastor from a nearby church led a group of people in prayer near where the accident happened.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating what caused the truck to tip over.
