700 pounds of raw beef, pork products recalled for possible contamination

WASHINGTON — An Alabama-based food supplier is recalling hundreds of pounds of raw beef and pork that may have been contaminated when a worker possibly cut himself, authorities said.

In a Saturday news release, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall of 712 pounds of fresh and frozen raw beef and pork products produced by US Foods in Birmingham.

The recalled items, produced July 18 and marked with the establishment number "EST. 21103," were sold under the brand names Stock Yards, Stock Yards Angus, Cattleman's Selection, Patuxent Farms and SRA. The supplier shipped the products to restaurants in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee, the news release said.

Restaurants that have the recalled products should discard or return them, authorities said.

Officials have not received any reports of illnesses related to the recalled items, according to the news release.
