Police said a clerk at the front desk of the Ritz Carlton called Lil Wayne's room and asked if they could open the windows or go out on the balcony after getting multiple complaints from guests about the overwhelming smell of marijuana in the hallway, KTVI reported.

"He didn't appreciate the phone call, I gather, and he came down and started arguing with them," Mark Smith, a spokesman for Clayton police, told the Riverfront Times. "When our first officers responded to the lobby, the first officers into the hotel, they saw a man behind the front desk staring down one of their clerks there at the hotel."

The man got out from behind the counter after an officer asked him to. Lil Wayne and his entourage left shortly after.

The rapper was scheduled to perform at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre with Blink-182.

"Sorry not doing the show tonight," Lil Wayne said on social media. "I was just (kicked) out the Ritz and 12 got involve(d) so I gotta slide."

Blink-182 will still perform, the Riverfront Times reported.

Police said the performer and his entourage left voluntarily.

"Our officers were just there to keep the peace," Smith told the Times. "The Ritz did not ask for charges to be filed."

This is not the first time Lil Wayne has not performed on this tour.

In July, he cut short a performance in Virginia.

"I just want the people to know, if you're wondering, please forgive me, but I am so not used to performing to a crowd and there's not too many. That's not my swag," he said in a video taken during his performance at the Jiffy Lube Live venue. "I'm not sure how long I'm going to be able to do this tour, but make some noise for Blink-182 for including me anyway. This might be my last night, though. Let's go."
