MIDDLETON, Ohio — One of Hollywood’s top actresses, with six Academy Award nominations, has been signed to star in a movie about growing up in Middletown, Ohio.
Adams, 44, was nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of Lynne Cheney in “Vice,” the biopic film about former Vice President Dick Cheney. She has won two Golden Globe awards and has been nominated six times for an Academy Award, according to IMDb.com website. She has 60 film and television credits in her career over the past 20 years.
In January, it was announced that Netflix won a bidding war for the rights to Howard's film version of "Hillbilly Elegy," the book written by Middletown native J.D. Vance about his upbringing, and will spend $45 million on the film, according to a report from Deadline.
Howard is directing and producing with his Imagine Entertainment partner Brian Grazer and the company’s Karen Lunder. Reports indicate shooting on the movie will begin later this year.
Over the past several months, Howard has been seen around Middletown and has been a regular of sorts at the Triple Moon Coffee Company for coffee and sandwiches.
Vance’s memoir (“Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis”) was a New York Times bestseller for 74 weeks. In the book, Vance writes about growing up in Middletown.
