Singer Peabo Bryson is in the hospital after having a heart attack over the weekend, according to his representative.
TMZ reported that the Grammy-winning singer was at his home in Georgia when he had a mild heart attack.
“He is currently listed in stable condition and is awake and responsive. Both his medical team and family are optimistic for a speedy recovery,” Bryson’s rep told Essence in a statement Monday. “At this time, privacy is requested; however, the thoughts and prayers of friends and fans are welcomed and appreciated.”
Bryson won two Grammys for best Pop performance by a duo or group with vocals: one in 1992 with Celine Dion for “Beauty and the Beast” and another in 1993 with Regina Belle for “A Whole New World (Aladdin's Theme).”
According to the R&B singer’s official website, he has a concert at Tangier Cabaret Room May 3 and 4 in Akron, Ohio. The date has not been canceled or postponed at the time of this story.
