Keanon Lowe is credited with taking a shotgun away from Angel Granados-Diaz at Portland's Parkrose High School on May 17, KOIN-TV reported. The video then shows Lowe, who is a security guard at the school, embracing and comforting the distraught student, who was 18 at the time of the incident, The Oregonian reported.

The video was obtained Friday from the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office through a public records request, KOIN reported.

In the video, Lowe can be seen walking into a school hallway, holding the shotgun in one hand while keeping his other arm wrapped around Granados-Diaz. Lowe hands the gun off to another man, then puts the student into a bear hug. Lowe appears to console Granados-Diaz and walks backward, patting the student on the back.

"I walk in there, I get to the classroom, I'm in the classroom for 15, 20 seconds — you know, I ask the teacher, 'Is the student here?'" Lowe told KOIN. "The door opens — I'm within arm's length of the door, about 3 feet away from the door, and there's a kid with a gun, a shotgun. In a fraction of a second, I analyzed everything really fast.

“I saw the look in his face, look in his eyes, looked at the gun, realized it was a real gun and then my instincts just took over.”

Granados-Diaz pleaded guilty to felony possession of a firearm in a public building and misdemeanor possession of a loaded firearm in public, The Oregonian reported. He was sentenced to three years of probation Thursday and will receive any mental health treatment he needs, the newspaper reported.
