1 killed, 14 injured in shooting at South Carolina nightclub

AIKEN, S.C. — One person was killed and 14 others were injured in a shooting at a South Carolina nightclub early Saturday, authorities said.

The shooting occurred at the Seventh Lounge in Aiken at around 12:47 a.m., the Aiken Standard reported.

Craig Youmans, 30, of North Augusta, was declared dead at the scene, according to Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables.

The coroner said Youmans’ body will be sent to Newberry for an autopsy, according to The Augusta Chronicle.

Other gunshot victims were taken to area hospitals for emergency treatment, the newspaper reported.

According to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, there were at least three people traveling in a light-colored Chevrolet Tahoe that left the area after the shooting, the Standard reported.

According to sheriff’s office spokesperson Capt. Eric Abdullah, witnesses saw people firing “at least a rifle and a handgun.”

In a statement Saturday afternoon, officials from the nightclub described the shooting as “truly” saddening.

The sheriff’s office said an investigation is ongoing, the Standard reported.
