3 Louisiana officers on leave after LSU football player claims he was ‘violated’ during incident

BATON ROUGE, La. — Three Baton Rouge, Louisiana, police officers have been placed on paid administrative leave after a college football player shared his account on social media of a Saturday night confrontation in which he says he was “violated” multiple times.

LSU wide receiver Koy Moore released a statement late Sunday afternoon via Twitter detailing his encounter with police. At one point, the officers attempted to unzip his pants, looking for a weapon he said he told them repeatedly he did not have, Moore wrote.

An LSU spokesperson confirmed to ESPN that the university and the Baton Rouge Police Department are investigating Moore’s claims.

LSU head football coach Ed Orgeron said during his weekly Zoom press conference on Monday that he has met with Moore, his mother and his brother, WAFB reported.

“In my statement I sent out last night, I said there’s no place in America for racism,” Orgeron said.

Moore’s mother, Shone Woods, also issued a statement regarding the incident via Twitter:

“We appreciate Mr. Moore bringing this incident to our attention,” Baton Rouge police Chief Murphy Paul said in a statement. “As in every case, we will be collecting all available evidence and conducting interviews. Accountability and transparency are critical in building trust with the community. I pledge a thorough investigation into this complaint.”

Moore, a freshman wide receiver, has eight catches for 70 yards so far this season, WAFB reported.
