Yakima Police Chief Matthew Murray said that they received a call around 3:30 a.m. that a man was allegedly shooting people at a Circle K near 18th Street and Nob Hill Boulevard, according to KIRO.

When officers arrived at the Circle K store, they found three people who were dead, according to KIRO.

Officers at first believed that there may have been another victim in the parking lot where the gunman had fired into a car but learned later that was not accurate, KIRO reported.

Police said after the shooting into a car, the suspect stole it and fled. Police identified the alleged gunman as Jarid Haddock, 21, according to KIRO. Murray said that the shooting appeared to be random and that there was “no apparent conflict before” Haddock walked into Circle K and began shooting.

Dispatch received a call just at 2 p.m. from a woman that said Haddock apparently used her phone. Yakima Police Department said, according to KIRO, that Haddock allegedly called his mother and made incriminating statements. The woman then told dispatch that Haddock said he was going to kill himself. The woman provided Haddock’s location by a Pizza Hut near a Target in the area.

According to KIRO, when officers arrived, they said they found Haddock at a marijuana store just behind the Target store, dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
