Alabama man arrested after fatal shooting at Mississippi casino

BILOXI, Miss. — An Alabama man is accused of fatally shooting a man on the gaming floor of a Mississippi casino early Saturday, authorities said.

Jereme Lamond Jones, 30, of Mobile, was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder, WLOX reported. He is accused of shooting Randy Johnson, 41, of Gulfport, at the Golden Nugget Casino in Biloxi, the television station reported.

Jones was armed with a pistol when he was arrested near the Biloxi Bay Bridge, according to WLOX.

The shooting happened Saturday around 12:30 a.m. CDT, according to a statement from the Biloxi Police Department. Investigators believe the two men got into a fight outside the casino. Jones followed Johnson into the casino and fired multiple close-range shots on the gaming floor, according to the police statement.

No one else was injured, AL.com reported.

It is unclear whether Jones and Johnson knew each other or what caused the original altercation, CNN reported.

Johnson was a father of two daughters and a son, according to WLOX. He was also a barber at King’s Barbershop in Gulfport.

Jones was booked into the Harrison County Jail with bail set at $1 million, AL.com reported.
