Couple facing child rape charges

PARAGOULD, Ark. — An Arkansas couple is facing child rape charges after police said the pair sexually abused a boy.

According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Shanny Lee Grady, 44, of Paragould, was arrested July 23 and charged with five counts of rape. Authorities later arrested Carleena Marie Hawkins, 42, also of Paragould, and charged her with two counts of rape and five counts of permitting child abuse.

The arrests came weeks after a boy told investigators in a June 10 interview that the pair had sexually abused him from March to June, the Democrat-Gazette and KAIT reported. Court documents allege that Grady sexually abused the victim "numerous" times. The boy also said Hawkins performed two sex acts on him and allowed other sexually abusive acts to occur, according to the Democrat-Gazette.
