PHILADELPHIA — There can be only one. More than 500 dogs took to the ring to vie for the Best in Show at The National Dog Show, which has become a yearly Thanksgiving tradition.
And after two days of competition, Claire, a Scottish Deerhound, was named Best in Show, beating 168 breeds and varieties recognized by the American Kennel Club, NBC Sports reported.
Two breeds competed for the first time in the National Dog show; the Barbet, a French water dog, was part of the Sporting Group, and the Dogo Argentino competed in the Working group.
A third new breed was allowed, the Belgian Laekenois, but no dogs represented the type this year, NBC Sports reported.
