Border Patrol officers seize more than $2.2 million in methamphetamine at Texas crossing

HIDLAGO, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested a woman Saturday and seized nearly $2.3 million in methamphetamine at the Hidalgo International Bridge in Texas.

According to a news release, the unidentified 21-year-old U.S. resident was traveling from Mexico when investigators discovered 14 packages, weighing 114 pounds, of suspected methamphetamine. The narcotics had been concealed within the pickup truck she was driving.

“Interceptions of hard narcotics like this are indicative of the effectiveness displayed by our officers every day, as they conduct daily enforcement operations,” Port Director Carlos Rodriguez with the Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry stated.

Officers seized the narcotics, worth an estimated $2,278,000, and the truck. The woman, who was arrested, has been placed in the custody of Homeland Security Investigations agents while the investigation continues, the release stated.
