Chelsea Manning released from jail, court orders

Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning, 32, formerly known as Bradley Manning, attempted to end her life Wednesday, her lawyers said. On Thursday, a judge ordered her release from jail.

Update 5:30 p.m. EDT March 12: Manning, has been released from custody of the attorney general, a court ordered Thursday. Manning is required to pay $256,000 in fines as part of the judgment.

She was in jail on contempt charges for refusing to testify against Julian Assange.

Manning was accused and found guilty of leaking almost 750,000 military files to WikiLeaks. Manning was court-martialed and received a 35-year prison sentence in 2013.
