Coronavirus: Landmarks lit for COVID-19 pandemic send message for first responders, reminders

Monuments across the world are lighting up with a message of hope and reminders for everyone to stay home.

The Pyramid of Khufu, also known as the Great Pyramid, was lit with lasers to show two messages. The first message was only two words: “Stay home.” The second was a sign of appreciation, “Thank you to those keeping us safe,” NBC News reported.

In the U.S., the Empire State Building changed its white lights that shine atop the iconic building to red and white to honor those on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic - the emergency workers who are treating those who have become infected with the virus.

From now until the end of the epidemic, the building will be bathed in lights that represent the “heartbeat of America,” WNBC reported.

The lights are accompanied by a white siren light that rotates, which may have had some people in the surrounding area feeling uneasy.

In Paris, the Eiffel Tower is lighting up in gold to honor health workers, police, soldiers, even garbage collectors and cashiers, anyone who is still on the job despite the pandemic, Forbes reported.
