The 11 graduating seniors at Somerset Island Preparatory wore their caps, gowns and masks as they were handed their diplomas with a grabber by their principal who was on a boat.

"This final ceremony for our seniors represents the same theme that has played out throughout the entirety of their time at Island Prep," Principal Tom Rompella said in a release. "That no barrier is too large to overcome and that through creativity and hard work we can overcome any challenge."

The students were given lessons on how to operate the personal water craft the day before the ceremony.

“The idea to have a Jet Ski graduation is a perfect example of the innovative mindset that permeates Somerset Island Prep," Todd German, Somerset Academy’s governing board chair, said in a press release. "I could not be prouder of the students and staff during these trying times.”
