Marvin Jean-Pierre, 22, of Miramar, was arrested Friday and charged with second-degree murder, according to Broward County online booking records. He was being held without bond.

According to an arrest report by the Miramar Police Department, officers responded to the victim’s apartment on Friday after his sister requested a welfare check, WPLG reported.

The woman said her brother was not answering his door and that his car was in the parking lot with all of its windows open, WTVJ reported.

Police said they found receipts in the car with Jean-Pierre’s name on them, along with a backpack containing a folder with Jean-Pierre’s name, the television station reported.

According to the arrest report, officers stopped Jean-Pierre when they observed him driving the victim’s car.

When they went back to the apartment, officers found the victim’s body in a closet, covered in a blanket with a necktie tied around the man’s ankles, WTVJ reported.

Jean-Pierre told police that he got into an argument with the victim and struck him in the face with a clothing iron, according to the arrest report. Jean-Pierre said he struck the victim a few more times, then wrapped his body, took a shower and then moved the man’s body to a closet, WTVJ reported.

Jean-Pierre added that he cleaned blood at the scene and threw the iron away in a trash container, the television station reported.
