Illinois man trying to sell car shot, carjacked during test drive, police say

MATTESON, Ill. — An Illinois man attempting to sell his car was shot multiple times and carjacked Tuesday during a test drive, authorities said.

The 41-year man, from Richton Park, told police he had met with a man and woman to sell them a gray 2013 Dodge Charger, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The victim sat in the back seat of the Charger while the couple drove the car through the streets of Matteson, WMAQ reported. According to the victim, the man turned around in his seat and shot his weapon twice. The man told the victim to leave the vehicle and then shot him again before fleeing the scene in the car, the television station reported.

The victim was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, WLS reported.

The Charger had a Missouri license plate and a large dent in its left-rear panel, the Tribune reported.
