ANKENY, Iowa — An Iowa man is accused of using a pit bull to attack people at a party, then killing the animal when it turned on him, authorities said.
Juan Carlos Moreno-Martinez, 33, of Ankeny, was charged with assault, animal neglect, trespassing and probation violations, KCCI reported.
According to the Ankeny Police Department, the incident occurred June 6 during a party. A police report said Moreno-Martinez unlawfully entered the property and retrieved the pit bull, according to KCCI. Police said Moreno-Martinez agitated the dog, which ultimately attacked three people, the television station reported.

The animal then bit Moreno-Martinez in the arm and leg, causing injuries that required a trip to the hospital, WOI reported. After the dog attacked him, Moreno-Martinez said he fatally stabbed it in the animal’s head and neck, police said.
Moreno-Martinez was arrested Thursday and taken to the Polk County Jail, KCCI reported.
