Cena, who first found fame as a professional wrestler and then became an actor and spokesperson, announced this week that he will be appearing at “SummerSlam,” the WWE Universal Championship later this year, CBS Sports reported.

He made the declaration during this week’s “Monday Night Raw,” the first time the event had fans in seats since the COVID-19 pandemic prevented wrestling followers from seeing events in person, Yahoo Sports reported.

“Finally, we can come back and cheer together. And boo together. And make some noise and connect with people that love this,” Cena said to the Dallas arena, according to Yahoo Sports.

Cena also appeared during the recent pay-per-view event “Money in the Bank.”

The last time Cena was in a high-profile match was in “WrestleMania 34″ in 2018, losing to The Undertaker.

Instead, he’s been appearing in such films as “F9: The Fast Saga” and the upcoming “The Suicide Squad.” He is the current host of “Wipeout” and is filming the HBOMax show “Peacemaker” based on his “The Suicide Squad” role.

SummerSlam will be on Aug. 21 in Las Vegas.
