OXFORD, England — Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai celebrated her graduation from Oxford University. A year and a half after officially earning the degree, Yousafzai was able to walk at the graduation ceremony that had been delayed by the pandemic, People Magazine reported.
In photos posted to Instagram and Twitter, Yousafzai posed in her cap and gown on the Oxford campus with the caption, “Some Latin was said and apparently I have a degree”.
Some photos include Yousafzai’s new husband, Asser Malik. Yousafzai and Malik announced their marriage in early November, the Associated Press reported.

Yousafzai was born in Pakistan in 1997 and grew up speaking out publicly on behalf of women and women’s rights. In 2012, on her way home from school, she was shot in the head by a member of the Taliban. She survived and continued her work championing human rights and education access, establishing the Malala Fund. In 2014, she became the youngest-ever Nobel laureate.
Yousafzai’s degree at Oxford is her second degree. In 2013, she was awarded an honorary Master of Arts degree from the University of Edinburgh, E! reported.
