WKYC says Ashtabula County Sheriff’s deputies received a call about a wrong-way driver. When deputies arrived in the area, they found a horse and an Amish buggy. The deputy tried to stop the buggy but had no success. The deputy tried getting the horse to stop but it kept going past the deputy’s vehicle. He then noticed a man in the buggy who was wearing Amish clothing and slumped over.

The deputy pulled in front of the buggy and he tried unsuccessfully to wake up the man, according to WKYC. The horse kept going and crashed into the deputy’s vehicle, causing the man to be thrown from the buggy. The deputy noticed that the man, whom WKYC identified as Nathan Miller, smelled of alcohol. The deputy tried to administer a field sobriety test but Miller refused. He was able to have Miller take a breathalyzer test which registered as a .063%.

Once Miller woke up, he got control of the horse. He was then arrested for allegedly operating a vehicle while intoxicated, says WJW. Both the deputy and horse are okay.
