ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — A North Carolina man has been arrested and charged with assault after authorities say he threw a liquor bottle that struck a 5-year-old boy.
Rockingham County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 911 call Saturday night and found 25-year-old Aaron Tyrone Sheppard intoxicated in the child’s presence.
Officials discovered Sheppard had thrown a liquor bottle that hit the 5-year-old in the head, causing “serious” injury, WGHP reported.
The child was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Sheppard was charged with felonious assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
He is being held on a $3 million secured bond.
