The woman, whose name was not released, was struck by bullets just before 6 p.m. in the Dorchester neighborhood of the city, Suffolk County District Attorney Rachael Rollins said.

No arrests have been made, WFXT-TV reported.

“This is obviously a very disturbing day here in Dorchester. It’s absurd that a grandmother can’t sit on her porch on a beautiful spring day without the worry of gunfire,” Boston Mayor Kim Janey said. “Emotions are very high here, neighbors are still out. They’re very traumatized.”

According to the Boston Police Department, it does not appear that the woman was the intended target.

A motive for the shooting was also unclear, WFXT reported.

“You need to hear me, that we are going to be prosecuting people that have guns, you will be sent away, and there will be no recourse for you,” Rollins said. “So we will find you and we will hold you accountable.”
