Minnesota man convicted of child porn accused of breaking into teen’s bedroom

RAMSEY COUNTY, Minn. — A Minnesota man convicted of child pornography earlier this year is accused of breaking into a teenage girl’s bedroom, authorities said.

Russell James Anderson Baldwin, 37, of Cambridge, was charged with felony counts of first-degree burglary and harassment of a victim under 18 years old, according to the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office.

On Jan. 16, Baldwin was convicted on three counts of child pornography possession in Isanti County, KARE reported.

Around 3 a.m. Monday, the 14-year-old girl was sitting on her bed video chatting with her boyfriend and told police she noticed her bedroom door slowly opening, the Pioneer Press reported. According to the complaint, Baldwin allegedly sat on the bed and told the girl, “We need to talk,” KARE reported.

The girl’s phone was charging, and when she turned to retrieve it, the man blocked her path with his body and said, “No, no, no,” according to the complaint.

When the victim’s mother entered the room, she told Baldwin to leave and he fled the scene, WCCO reported.

The victim’s mother said all the doors on her home’s first floor had been locked, so she believed Baldwin entered the residence from a deck, the Pioneer Press reported.

The victim said she had seen Baldwin before, claiming he had approached her and asked her to get into his sedan, WCCO reported. Baldwin also allegedly attempted to contact the victim through Instagram, according to the criminal complaint. The victim told police she did not reply to the message but took a screenshot of it, the Pioneer Press reported.

If he is convicted, Baldwin could face up to 20 years in prison on the burglary charge and up to 10 years on the harassment charge, WCCO reported.
