Nathan Millard’s body was found in a vacant lot near a road in Louisiana about three miles from where he was last seen, WSB reported.

Millard, a contractor, was on a business trip in Baton Rouge when he was reported missing after last being seen late Thursday night at a pub in downtown Baton Rouge.

Millard went to a basketball game, then to a bar, WSB reported.

WBRZ reported that the staff at the bar cut off Millard after they said he had too much to drink, and left the bar alone around 11:30 p.m. to head back to his hotel.

When he didn’t attend a meeting the following morning, the client asked the hotel staff to check Millard’s room, which appeared not to have been slept in, then the client went to the police to file a missing person’s report, The Advocate reported.

His phone and wallet were found on the ground and at one point a homeless person was questioned for using Millard’s credit card at a Baton Rouge bus station, WBRZ reported.

His debit card had been used several times before the family was able to deactivate it, according to The Advocate.

Someone called the police Monday morning when they noticed a foul smell, Texas EquuSearch told WAFB. EquuSearch said Millard’s body was rolled in a carpet and wrapped in plastic.

It appeared he had been dead for a period of time, WBRZ reported.

Millard’s cause of death has not been determined and is pending an autopsy, according to The Advocate.
