Navy to conduct live bomb training in Ocala National Forest

OCALA, Fla. — Naval Air Station Jacksonville is conducting live and inert bomb training in Ocala National Forest from Friday through Sunday, according to the fire department.

The training was to conducted from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. from Friday through Sunday.

The training will take place at the Pinecastle Range Complex in Ocala National Forest, about 2 miles west of Camp Ocala campgrounds and near several hiking trails.

According to the Southwest fire department, it is common for F-18 jet fighters and other Navy aircraft to drop bombs in the middle of the range.

The explosions and loud noises may push wildlife out of the forest, so officials warn to always be mindful of larger animals during this time.

Anyone with a noise complaint is asked to call the Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility in Jacksonville at 800-874-5059.
