LINCOLN PARK, Mich. — Police in Michigan are investigating after a newborn baby was discovered dead inside a bag in the woods, authorities said.
According to WDIV and the News-Herald, Lincoln Park police responded Saturday to the woods near the intersection of St. Johns Boulevard and Fort Street after a resident found the bloody bag. Officers said the body of a newly delivered infant was inside, the news outlets reported.
Investigators are now trying to find the mother of the child, who likely was placed in the bag shortly after being delivered, police said. Officials did not yet know when the child was born, according to the news outlets.
