A javelin thrower from Poland who took home the silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics is using her winnings to help someone else.
Maria Andrejczyk auctioned her medal to help pay for heart surgery for 8-month-old Miloszek Malysa, ESPN reported.

The Polish supermarket chain Žabka won the auction, bidding $125,000 for the medal. Žabka then gave the medal back to Andrejczyk.

The javelin thrower had competed in past games but didn’t win, missing a medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games by 2 centimeters.
Andrejczyk also had a shoulder injury in 2017 that needed surgery, forcing her to miss all competitions that year, USA Today reported. She was diagnosed with bone cancer in 2018, ESPN reported.
