MONROE, La. — A Louisiana man who led police on a lengthy chase Tuesday told officers he was speeding because of faulty brakes and his desire to finish the hamburger he just bought, authorities said.
Allen Jermaine Seabury, 37, of Monroe, was charged with a felony count of fleeing from an officer and three misdemeanors: the use of multiple-beam road lighting equipment, the lack of motor vehicle insurance and driving without a license, according to a probable cause affidavit filed by Monroe Police Department Officer Dylan Johnson.
According to the affidavit, Seaberry was observed driving a red Chevrolet Impala 60 mph in a 25 mph zone with its bright lights activated. Seaberry also drove through six stop signs, the affidavit stated.

After he led officers on a “lengthy” chase, Seabury exited his vehicle with a hamburger in his hand at his residence in Monroe, the affidavit stated.
After he was placed in handcuffs and read his rights, Seabury told officers that he was unable to stop his vehicle “due to his brakes being out and because he wanted to eat the burger that he just purchased,” KTVE-TV reported.
The Ouachita Correctional Center recorded Seabury’s total bail amount as $1,050, the Sun-Herald reported.w
