BALTIMORE — A man in Baltimore, Maryland, has been arrested for allegedly beating his mother to death after an argument, police say.
On Wednesday just before 3 p.m., Baltimore Police Department Northeast District patrol officers were called out to a house in the 2400 block of Gainsborough Court for a death report. According to a news release from BPD, when officers arrived at the house, they found Stewartress Burke, 75, with obvious signs of trauma to her upper body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kevin Burke, 52, called 911 to report that his mother was dead in her room, according to charging documents obtained by WJZ-TV. He also reportedly wanted to speak with officers.
Kevin Burke reportedly led officers to her body and allegedly confessed to officers there, according to WJZ-TV.
BPD said that Kevin Burke told officers he allegedly assaulted his mother during an argument which led to her death.
Kevin Burke allegedly told detectives he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had stopped taking his medication, according to charging documents obtained by WJZ-TV. He also told them that their argument had happened between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Wednesday. He allegedly said he knocked her down and punched her repeatedly in the face.
Kevin Burke has been charged with first-degree murder and related charges in his mother’s death, according to WJZ-TV.
No further information has been released.
