Police initially said the Migos rapper, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was arrested but later said he was only detained for questioning, KNBC reported.

“Artist and Philanthropist Offset was detained by the Beverly Hills Police Department following an attack by aggressive Trump supporters,” a spokesperson for Offset told “People.” “He was released shortly thereafter. Offset thanks his fans for their support and wishes everyone peace and safety during these trying times. He encourages everyone to get out and vote because nothing changes if nothing changes.”

Offset took video of the incident, which happened around 5:02 p.m. during a weekly rally of Trump supporters, KTTV reported. The video has been widely viewed on social media. In it, officers can be seen approaching the vehicle with their weapons drawn.

Offset tells police he won’t get out of the vehicle, “because you’ve got guns out.”

An officer replied, “that’s my choice.”

Offset can then be heard saying, “I’m not going to move my hands from the steering wheel.”

Another officer approaches and said, “We were told that you guys were waving guns at people.”

Offset replies, “You just watched somebody beat my car up with a flag. What are you talking about?”

An officer later tells Offset not to move as he reaches inside the vehicle and removes the rapper from it.

“That’s not legal; you can’t just open my door,” he said.

Offset was then detained for questioning and later released. Passenger Marcelo Almanzar, 20, was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a loaded firearm in public.

“The victim of the crime did not desire to press charges for the pointing of the weapon,” Beverly Hills police said on social media. “There have been media reports that entertainer Offset was arrested. Those reports are inaccurate.”

Almanzar is performer Cardi B’s cousin. After a highly-publicized break up, Offset and Cardi B reconciled and are still married.
