Malone, 27, accidentally fell into an open trap door during a show last weekend in St. Louis. It is unclear whether the injury from that fall is related to Saturday’s postponement, Rolling Stone reported. But in a social media post on Saturday, Malone said he would be unable to perform at TD Garden.

In a Twitter post on Saturday, Malone said that he woke up to cracking sounds in his ribs and that the right side of his body “felt so different than it has before,” WFXT-TV reported.

“Boston, I love y’all so (expletive) much. On tour, I usually wake up around 4 o’clock p.m. and today I woke up to a cracking sounds on the right side of my body,” Malone tweeted. “I felt so good last night, but today it felt so different than it has before. I’m having a very difficult time breathing, and there’s like a stabbing pain whenever I breathe or move.

“We’re in the hospital now, but with this pain, I can’t do the show tonight. I’m so (expletive) sorry,” Malone added. “Everyone’s tickets for tonight’s show will be valid for the reschedule that we’re planning right now. Once again, I’m so (expletive) sorry. I love y’all so much. I feel terrible, but I promise I’m going to make this up to you. I love you Boston, I’ll see you soon.”

A representative for Malone did not have further comment, according to Rolling Stone.

TD Garden also tweeted about the show, writing in a statement that the show was “being postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.” Fans were advised to retain their tickets in anticipation of a rescheduled date, Variety reported.

Malone is in the middle of a North American tour in support of his fourth studio album, “Twelve Carat Toothache,” Rolling Stone reported.

Malone’s next scheduled show is in Cleveland on Tuesday, according to his website. It is unclear whether future concert dates will be affected by Malone’s hospitalization.
